I have read so much about making bread in a clay pot (http://kryddburken.se/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/lergryta.jpg), and I’ve been dying to try it.
On the other hand they are quite bulky little devils, and I’ve had those things before for cooking chicken and whatnot, and I just ended up never using it. But when I was at a plant store the other day I saw these pretty little pots and knew I had something good going. Look at that beauty, it’s practically yelling RUSTIC isn’t it… I’m very happy, and also it was LITERALLY dirt cheap. I turned one of the pots on its head and on top of the other, and lo and behold, I had me some very nice loaf.
You try it! This pot has never been used for anything dodgy, and I cleaned it properly before. It’s also not treated in any way, shape or form. I suggest you take similar precautions.
It takes ages to bake, but minutes to prepare.
For a pot that takes about 1 litre:
Put clean pots in water while you prepare the dough
25 g dry yeast
3 dl fine gluten free flour mix
3 dl high fiber gluten free mix
1 small carrot, grated
6 olives, chopped
1 dl walnuts, shelled and chopped
1 ½ dl water
1 tbsp sirup
1 tbsp olive oil
Mix the dry ingredients, add the rest
Mix well, the dough should be quite loose
Pour out the water from the pots, add the dough
Put it into the cold oven on the bottom rack and put oven on 150C
Let sit for 2 hours, then cool slightly before gently prying it loose from the sides using a knife.
